Competition Rules

  1. The laws of cricket shall apply except where amended in these Rules. The Umpires decision shall be final.
  2. It shall be the responsibility of the ‘home’ club to provide the pitch, stumps, bails and a suitable match ball. The standard of the ball must be agreed by the captains prior to the toss being made.
  3. A match shall consist of 20 overs of 6 balls per team.
  4. Matches shall be played on Friday evening or Sunday as per the dates shown in the fixture list. The toss shall be made at 6:15 for a 6:30 start. In the event of one team not being fully in attendance, with the agreement of both captains and there are a minimum of 8 players present, the game may commence with the attending team able to choose whether to bat or bowl. Otherwise teams failing to arrive in time shall be deemed to have forfeited the match.
  5. In the case of inclement weather the fixture shall not be rearranged.

  6. The points shall be awarded as follows:
  1. The winning team shall be awarded 20 points. The winning team shall be the team scoring the higher number of runs in their innings regardless of the number of wickets lost.
  2. Bonus points shall be awarded to the losing side as follows:

Taking 2  wickets

1 point

Scoring 60 runs 1 point

Taking 4 wickets

2 points

Scoring 70 runs

2 points

Taking 6 wickets

3 points

Scoring 80 runs

3 points

Taking 8 wickets

4 points

Scoring 90 runs

4 points

  1. In the event of a match being tied each side shall be awarded 5 points plus any bonus points accrued.
  1. The position in the League shall be determined on points average, based on points awarded divided by the actual matches played. Any fixtures cancelled because of adverse weather conditions shall be deemed to be void. In the event of teams finishing equal there shall be a play off.
  2. Each club shall provide an umpire and scorer.
  3. The ‘home’ club shall be responsible for ensuring that all relevant details concerning their club are correct. In the event of a match being abandoned or cancelled the Results secretary should be advised. All results should be submitted no later than 4 days after the match.
  4. Bowlers shall be limited to a maximum of 4 overs per innings. Each team need only use a minimum of 5 bowlers.
  5. If a player scores 25 runs she must retire and may only return if all the remaining wickets fall.
  6. Normal rules of cricket apply to wides.
  7. Where possible, boundaries should be set to a reasonable size, possibly colt size.
  8. Full whites will not be compulsory but white must be worn above the waist. The wearing of pads and gloves is compulsory.
