4) Copdock and Rayleigh would like to join the league. The committee proposes that we accept these two teams into the league.

All in Favour.

Accepted

Eastwood were also keen to join the league, however this would make the league odd, it would also be awkward to fit the games in the summer season.

Sophie will email all teams with Eastwoods contact details these will also go in the handbook.

5) Chairman’s report

Debbie welcomes everyone here tonight and Kelvedon for holding the venue and Beaumont Seymour for continually sponsoring us.

Last season the league saw a huge success with the inclusion of new teams.

There has been a huge improvement in all teams; we need to not forget the importance of the younger players and to continue to work with E.C.C.B.

New teams again this year giving us more scope for next year.

All games were played in a great spirit; we ended up with very close finals and semi finals. This is great to see such strong teams now.

The sponsors match was against a league team, we did unfortunately have bad weather, therefore we had a bowl off, enjoyed by all, but won by the league team. There is now a trophy which has been brought for this event. Beaumont Seymour will have the privilege of keeping the trophy in the office, regardless of result.

The indoor league again went well this season with three of our teams reaching the top.

Word of caution that we need younger players coming through we can not rely on one or two players.

            Thanks to all cricket member and a special thank you to;

                        Caroline and V.chairman

                        Chris as Treasurer

                        Dave as fixture secretary

                        Sophie for being secretary

6) Treasurers report

Sponsorship has been received this year £750, this was received at the end of the sponsors game.

We are in the position whereby we can afford to buy the cricket balls for all teams this year. Chris is organising this. Suppliers are getting the balls hopefully before the next committee meeting.

Teams will need to be at the next committee meeting. If you do not attend you will be billed for your balls.

Trophies costs = £175, Presentation = £277. Three teams were funded for coaching courses. Mistley, Kelvedon and Old chelmsfordions.

The Essex bat raffle was won buy Chris Rowland.

 7)      All officers stand down all are prepared to stand again.

Carole proposes that we reelect in block. Becky seconded.

All in favour.

8)

Dave letch is the cricket officer for South and Central over seeing ladies and girls cricket.

Women’s teams are currently unbeaten. 3 years ago they were 25th in the tables they are now 12th. The county team has also been mention on TV that we are the County to look out for. The women are playing in the second division of the County Championships . Their average age is 18.

Thanks to similar leagues that back this up but more development is needed we need to be really pushing the youngest through. Each board will receive £800 to try and get girls into cricket more. This has been successful in the past moving girls into Essex .

We have strong relationships between the two ECB, if you complete your level one course you will receive £125 back, if you would like to continue your cricket coaching and go on to a level two course they will also assist you.

Dave has been offered the county ground for our semi final and finals, the dates will be fixed for the 1st August. Traditionally we do not play this late however we are given a lot of notice what do people think?

The first semi final will be 10:30

                                    Second        13:00

                                    Final            16:00

All the games will be played in one day. Saturday the 1st August. We would have finished two weeks before so playoffs can be the week after the season, for those teams that wish to play for their set positions in the table that will not be playing for the top positions.

This will be a one – off event.

Committee would like to give a massive thank you to Dave letch for organising the Lady traveners bags and this event.

Overall the committee say that the final event at Chelmsford is a brilliant idea. All teams should put the date in their diary making it another important event like the sponsors match. Even if teams do not play in these matches, it would be nice to go and support the teams that are. If your team is playing in these matches you must wear WHITES. Balls will be provided.

Umpires are also needed, if a qualified umpire in your team would like to umpire a game or two for the semi finals please let Sophie or Dave know,

Scorers will have to be sitting in the pavilion if we have a scorer from each team we cam swap around.

Essex have given us this because of the importance and huge increase in international cricket this year. Women’s cricket in this county is also promoted this year on the 29th 30th of June England v Australia floodlit at the Ford County ground.. The Essex Country Cricket board have given their full support for our final event and really want to promote girls and ladies cricket.

EWCA – AGM is Thursday 5th March, at the County ground, it would be nice if representatives from each team could be there, to show the same support they have given us. After the AGM will be a 20min workshop to discuss issues in womens cricket.

They would like to hear voices from our own clubs, about what we would like to see re: international cricket, where do you see it going?

Any club photos or articles are also more than welcome on their web site.

A.O.B

Minal; re: the indoor league Abberton were unable to enter an indoor team, because of the restriction on days. They were given a Wednesday which none of the team could do.

-- Originally you got to pick your day, next time just make sure that it is clear, that you didn’t enter last year, and you would like a Tuesday.

Simm Gibbs, NEECB:

U13 +U15 girls cricket could get under way if we work in clusters. Some people will be approached to see if they have clubs that are available to take part in these competitions.

i.e U13 N vs S set a date and see if it happens

Approaches will be coming through clubs to set dates, dates will be set and its up to the teams to make the fixture.

B.S Fixtures sheet- Are produced and ready for the handbook – all club representatives should have a copy of their fixtures for their clubs.

Any changes please email Dave before 31st March.

Can you bring start times forward?

As long as both teams have agreed. Can also play on Sundays but please let Dave know by the above date, Could also swap, home to away.

If nothing is heard by the clubs it will be assumed that all will be the same.

Each team was given a contacts form – could you please fill these in and bring them to the next meeting. These details need to be up to date.

The primary contact needs to be the contact that will be called if a game has been called off.

Homewood House: sessions have been running at Highwood’s from 11-12 for beginners and 12-1 for district girls.

If anyone knows of any girls years 5,6,7, &8 that are keen to play, please encourage them to come along there are 4 more Sundays to go and the numbers are increasing each week.
