Chairmen’s report

Good year despite the weather, the session started with some cancellations due to the rain, but all in all, a good season. With the results being;-

1st – E.A.G

2nd – Colchester

3rd – Abberton

Many thanks go to Beaumont Seymour for their support and sponsorship. It’s also a great pleasure to welcome the sides that help extend the league; this is good for women’s/girls cricket.

We are currently recruiting for young girls, this is a major project that Homewood house are also being heavily involved in. Eventually there will be an U11 and U13 8 a-side cricket league established which will ultimately support the ladies league.

Thanks to Sophie for be secretary – liaising with ECB.

Thanks to Dave Jones for the fixtures and results.

Thank to Chris Rowland for looking at the accounts and drawing the treasurers report up.

The 10th anniversary, saw a general team represent the teams in the league, play against the sponsors. It was a lovely sunny day, a good match with a buffet and was very enjoyable. The committee will look to do something similar next year.

Thanks for the support, Carole has had and enjoyable time as chairmen.

Treasurers Report.

2005 – Coaching at Homewood house was paid for twice but one had been cancelled in the check-book. Dated March 2006 the again August 2006. Debbie seems to think that we owed them from the year before.

Balls

Paul is looking at purchasing the balls through the County.

It was proposed by Nancy that that annual fees to the league go up £10.

This was seconded by Chris, J.

All in favour

This means that annual fees are now £20 and the balls will be paid for and collect through the league. Next year it will be the responsibility of the club to get their own balls. The treasurer therefore will do his utmost to get invoices out to the clubs earlier so these fees can be paid before the next AGM.

Essex Cricket Bat

There is a signed Essex cricket bat, which is not only signed by the Essex squad by is also a quality bat. If clubs wish to continue to sell raffle tickets, then please bring them to the next committee meeting where the draw will be done. Tickets are £1 a ticket £5 a strip.

A.O.B

When the league reaches it final stages, the final should really be played at a neural ground. Could clubs please be aware of this and possible let the committee know whether they will be willing to hold the finals at their grounds. This will be on the 25th July. Abberton, O.C, Gt.Waltham, E.A.G, Woodham mortimer all potentially announced this could be possible at their grounds.

The AGM’s date, to move forward a month, so clubs are able to get fixtures into their own clubs earlier.

Proposed Audrey

Seconded Chloe

All in favour.

Chris R. Would like to say Congrats to B.S Trio’s who played in the Indoor league over the winter at Chelmsford, the girls played very well and reached a very close 3rd place. They played very well against Loughton and Harrow-wood. Also a well done to the other B.S team involved, it was a very enjoyable league, and some good cricket was played.

Laura Thorogood, has done brilliantly well in cricket, and is currently playing for the England U19’s. Cara Toleman is England U19 indoor V.captain. Victoria Brown is playing for Essex U19 women’s team.  Well done girls.

Fixtures, Dave needs to know if any of the fixtures have to change before March.

Its really important, as clubs we start to look at the youth section. Homewood house are doing a grand job, and have many things organised over the Easter and the for-coming period. There is supposed to be an U11/U13 league being produced this year. Hopefully this will be a success and grow and these girls can then develop into the B.S league.

Harwich, Maldon and Homewood House have youth girls sides so please contact them for youth games.

Thank you Beaumont Seymour for your continued support, and good luck to the girls/teams for this season.
