Friday 26th April - finals night Copford 'B' 98-1 bt Copford 'A' 80-1 by 18 runs 'B' s Charlene Hignett, Jenna Halesworth & Sophia Halesworth all 20 retired and for the 'A's Max Harris and Michelle Snow both 20 retired. Wivenhoe 86-5 lost to Colchester 87-4 by 2 wickets. Wivenhoe's Rachael Warnes 21, Colchester's Jenny Grinter 27 no and Danielle Lavender 3-28, Colchester scoring the winning run in the last over. The Final Copford 'B' 97-2 lost to Colchester 98-3 'B' s Charlene Hignett, Sophia Atalay & Jenna Halesworth all 20 retired and for Colchester Janet Austin and Jenny Grinter both 20 with Grinter striking the winning run with 3 balls to spare. Friday 19th April Abberton 66-4 bt Copford 'B' 48-6 by 18 runs Chris Pettman (12) and Catherine Griggs (14no) top scored for Abberton. For Copford Atalay (20) was top score and Chris Pettman (7-3) was the best bowler. Colchester 109-1 bt Copford 'A' 33-5 by 76 runs. Batting first Colchester piled on the runs with Beth Wilde (26), Stella Lazzell (26) and Min Patel (27) all retiring unbeaten. For Copford A Harris (14no) remained unbeaten. Friday 12th April Abberton 106-3 bt Maldon 71-6 by 35 runs. for Abberton Lisa Eaves (21), N Baynham (17), Chris Petman (15no) and Tizzy Leary (15no) scored the runs. In reply Jan Eva (27no) and H Scrivner (17no) scored the Maldon runs. Colchester 66-6 lost to Wivenhoe 68-3 by 3 wickets. In a close and exciting game Wivenhoe maintained their unbeaten record scrambling the wining run of the last ball. Colchester batted first with Stella Lazell (12), Hard hitting Sue Davies (17) and Janet Austin (15) getting the runs whilst best of the Wivenhoe bowlers was Chris Jones (3-10). In reply Rachael Warnes (19), Chris Jones (14) and Barbara Connelly (14no) scoring the vital last run. Friday 8th. March Wivenhoe 45-6 lost to Holmwood 48-4 by 2 wickets. In a friendly encounter Emma Sharroch (3-17) destroyed the Wivenhoe batters, Tamsin Middleton (14) being the only resistance. In reply Jenny Whitehair (13) and Natasha Whewell (16 no) passed the Wivenhoe total in the last over. Maldon 23-6 lost to Colchester 81-4 by 58 runs. In another friendly match Colchester scored freely with Jenny Ginter (24 no) helping Colchester reach 81. Audrey Mitchell (2-22) bowled well for Maldon. In reply the Colchester bowlers were quickly on top dismissing the Maldon team for 23. Copford 'A' lost to Copford 'B' by 6 wickets. In the only league encounter of the night the 'Copford Derby' was rather one sided with the 'B' team coming out on top by 6 wickets. S Southgate (25 ret) and J Halesworth (21 no) quickly surpassing the 'A' team's score. Friday 1st. March Copford 'A' 49-6 bt Harwich School 39-6 by 10 runs. In a friendly game Michelle Snow (11) and Alex Harris (12) scored Copford's runs whilst Charlotte Thurlow took 3 for 15 for Harwich. Top score for Harwich was Kelly Bladen with 7. Colchester 37-6 lost to Copford 'B' 38-1 by 5 wickets. Birgitte Keller (12) was the only Colchester player to reach double figures with R smith taking 1 wicket for 4 runs off 2.2 overs. In reply S Southgate (22) & R Smith (11) needed only 5 overs to pass the Colchester score. Wivenhoe 98-4 bt Abberton 44-6 by 54 runs. Batting first Wivenhoe reached a high total thanks to Nicola Griggs (42) and Catherine Griggs (33), both not out at the end of their overs. In reply the Wivenhoe bowlers were on top from the stsrt with Catherine Griggs (2-11) completing a fine match. Kate Henderson (27) provided the Abberton resistance. Friendly results. 18th January. Holmwood, (93 - 4) bt. Abberton (92 - 4) by 2 wickets. I an exciting game the youngsters of Holmwood school under the guidance of the experience Sally Cade pulled off an unexpected result by defeating Abberton. Tizzy Leary with 14 was top scorer for Abberton with Sally Cade retiring on 26 for Holmwood. Wivenhoe (138 -1) bt Maldon (14 - 6) by 124 runs. An experienced Wivenhoe team overwhelmed an inexperienced Maldon side new to indoor cricket. Julia Brinkley (26), Rachael Warnes (23), Nicola Griggs (25) and Chris Jones (25) left Maldon to chase an impossible target. Colchester bt. Police by default as the Police were unable to raise a team. 25th. January Copford 'B' (102 - 6) bt Copford 'A' (31 - 6) by 71 runs. C Hignett (20) and S Southgate (35) were the stars for the 'B' team. Michelle Snow (17) provided the only resistance to the 'B' team bowlers. Abberton (94 - 6) bt Wivenhoe (87 - 6) by 7 runs. In a closely fought game Abberton got off to a good start with openers Chris Petman (22) and Jackie Wooton (31) scoring the baulk of the runs. In reply Julia Brinkley (27) and Nicola Griggs (13) gave Wivenhoe a sound start but unable to keep up the pace faded to fall 7 runs short. Police bt EAG by default, EAG unable to raise a team. 1st. February Holmwood (89 - 5) lost to Colchester (110 - 5) by 21 runs Min Patel top scored for Colchester with 33 assisted by Janet Austin (19) and Carole Warren (13 no). Holmwood made a valiant effort to match the Colchester score with Sally Cade (32) and Whewell (37 no). Copford 'A' (67 - 3) beat Maldon (26 -6) by 42 runs. Maldon bowlers restricted Copford 'A' to 67. In reply Maldon fell well short despite the efforts of Audrey Mitchell (21). Copford 'B' bt EAG by default, EAG could not raise a team. 8th. February Holmwood 104 - 6 bt EAG (Harwich School) 72 - 5 by 32 runs. Harwich replaced EAG to give the Holmwood side some useful practice. Maldon 76 -5 lost to Copford 'B' 99 - 6 by 23 runs. Police 69 -4 lost to Abberton 71 - 2 by 4 wickets. 15th. February Colchester 61 - 6 lost to Copford 'B' 74 - 3 by 13 runs. Abberton 49 - 6 lost to Copford 'A' 52 - 2 by 4 wickets. Tizzy Leary (21) and Kim Spain (12) battled well but were no match for the bowling of Michelle Snow with 4 wickets for 6 runs off 2.3 overs! In reply snow (23) continued her domination of the Abberton team, reaching their target with 3 overs to spare. Wivenhoe bt E.A.G. by default as E.A.G. failed to raise a team. 22nd February Holmwood bt Maldon by 2 wickets - no details, the score sheets have been 'lost'. Police lost to Wivenhoe by default as they were unable to raise a team. Colchester 69-5 bt. Copford 'A' 37-6 by 32 runs. Carole Warren scored 37 and Sue Davies took 3 wickets for 11 runs. |
